FreePinion does not operate a company server. We do not receive, store, or sell your data.
Comments, the name (alias) you choose, your fingerprint, and Ban marks are published on Freenet for that page. Anyone who loads that page’s thread can read them. If you opt in, a Global Board entry can list the page URL, fingerprint, work bits or Ghost Key amount, and a hash of the message — not the message text and not the alias. Private messages stay between the two identities on Freenet.
Mute, Trust (follow someone’s public bans on this page), the proof-of-work / Ghost Key filter, alias, Board checkbox, and a short thread cache stay in this browser (chrome.storage.local). They are not synced with Chrome. The identity seed stays in the Freenet vault on this machine.
The URL of the active tab, so comments belong to this page. That URL is not sent to a FreePinion company server.
FreePinion is not affiliated with Freenet. The extension is free. A Ghost Key is optional. Donations for a Ghost Key go to Freenet (https://freenet.org/ghostkey/) and do not fund FreePinion.
The extension talks to the Freenet node you configure (default http://127.0.0.1:7509 and http://localhost:7509; you may set a remote origin such as Tailscale or try.freenet.org). If you enable “Read via public gateway”, Chat and the Global Board may be loaded from https://try.freenet.org when your node is down (read only; that public node sees which contract keys you fetch). Manual installs may request https://freepinion.pages.dev/api/zips to see if a newer zip exists. We do not run a server that receives your comments.
